Karen attended Marshall University. She was an avid sports fan, especially Marshall and Duke basketball. She loved painting, gardening and her animals.
Mrs. Groome is survived by her son, William J. Groome III (Millie); daughter, Katherine G. Taylor; daughter, Sara E. Groome (Allen Monts); son, John R. Groome (Stacee); grandchildren, Jeffery Dickerson, Mary Ann (Kyle) Lawson, Billy Groome, Hannah Groome, McKenzie Groome and great grandchildren, Jackson Vaughan and Cooper Lawson.
She was predeceased by her husband, William J. Groome, Jr.; daughter, Mary Ann Groome; son-in-law, Milton Taylor and brother, George Rudge.
A Celebration of Life service will be held later at her favorite place, Edisto Island.
