Johnny “John” Marion Owen, Jr. was a beloved father, husband, brother and friend. He was born in Columbia, South Carolina on July 6, 1968, to Kathy Sloan (Eaddy) and Johnny Owen, Sr. While attending Irmo High School, he played football and was a graduate of the Class of 1986. He went on to attend the University of South Carolina where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. He was an active member of the Alpha Phi chapter of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. John enjoyed a successful career in the energy business at SCANA, Dominion Power, and ACES. Most recently, he was the Senior Business Development Manager at Exelon Clearsight, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. John was an avid water sportsman at both Lake Murray and Edisto Beach, SC. He enjoyed cheering on his UofSC Gamecocks and watching sports. He was passionate about his family and their successes.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny, and his mother, Kathy. He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth, and his two children, Mary Caroline and Johnny “Tripp”, III; his sister, Beth (Brad); a niece, Anna (Scott), and nephews, Joshua (Haley) and Joseph.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, at 503 N. Lake Drive, Lexington, SC. The family will receive visitors at the home after the service.
