John Estus Lucas, Jr., 63, of West Columbia, SC passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 after fighting with cancer for many years. He was born in Columbia, SC on June 22, 1960 to John Estus Lucas, Sr. and Sylvia Crumpton Lucas.
John was a member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church. He graduated from Airport High School in 1978 and went on to graduate from the University of South Carolina. He worked for DNR as a producer, director, and videographer. He also was a deputy law enforcement officer and business manager for DNR.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Tammy W. Lucas; parents, John and Sylvia Lucas; son, John E. Lucas, III of Lexington; daughter, Kristin E. Lucas of West Columbia; sister, Ann Tatum (Jack) of West Columbia; brother, Kenny Lucas (Keli) of Lexington; and nephew, Kody Tatum of North Carolina.
He was predeceased by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Vernelle and Lindy Cannon.
A graveside service will be held for John at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3050 Leaphart Rd, West Columbia, SC 29169.
