John Leonhardt

Mr. John Marion Leonhardt Sr., of Columbia, piloted his final flight to heaven on Sunday, August 20, 2023. John was welcomed to eternal rest by the love of his life and wife of 65 years, the late Azalia Mahaffey Leonhardt. John was born on July 27, 1928, in Columbia to Edward Henry Leonhardt and Gladys Leonhardt (born Cooper).

In addition to his wife and parents, John was predeceased by his brothers, Edward H. Leonhardt Jr. and William D. Leonhardt; and son, Mark M. Leonhardt.

Mr. Leonhardt had a love for life and could often be found spending time with loved ones, enjoying boiled peanuts by the lake, and flying his Mooney aircraft. Those left to cherish his memories include his sister, Gladys J. Leonhardt; sons, John M. Leonhardt Jr. and James O. Leonhardt; three grandchildren, Trey, Adam and Leeann; and two great grandchildren, Emma and Briggs.
