Joanne K. Collins, a beautiful soul, entered into rest November 28, 2021. Joanne Kirby Collins, 86 years old, born December 27, 1934, a month shy of her 87th birthday. Residing in Saltville, VA, she took her last breath at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. She was a native of Lexington, SC.
She was quiet, even-tempered, wise, strong and a fighter through her many ailments. She was one of six children of Ruth Spires Kirby Painter.
She was married to and preceded in death by James Edward Collins, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Glenna Weishaupt Collins and preceded in death by her two sons, James E. Collins, Jr. and John L. Collins, Sr. (survived by Melanie Collins).
She was grandmother to Travis Dixon (Judy), Scott Stump, Tobias Stump, Katrina Weishaupt (James S), John L. Collins/Kleber Jr. (Michael Kleber), James “Jim” Collins; step grandchildren, Jamie Weishaupt (Shannon) and Traci Weishaupt; great grandmother to Jeremiah (Kayla), Allen, Hannah, Kaylee, Alyssa, Molly, Ella, Brentley and Bradley, Destiny, Grace, Serenity and Charity; step great grandchildren, Jared and Jaycin.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
