WEST COLUMBIA - Janice Lucas Franklin, 48, wife of Jimmy L. Franklin entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, September 13, 2015 after a long battle with kidney cancer. Born August 16, 1967 in Columbia, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Heyward D. Lucas and Marlene H. Lucas. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her daughter, Miranda Franklin (Toby Henderson), and brother Bryan Lucas (Lea Ann); mother-in-law, Ida Franklin of Murphy, NC; sisters-in-law Theresa (Pete) Kesselring of Whittier, NC, Rhonda (Tommy) Woodard of Murphy, NC; brothers-in-law Wesley (Mary) Franklin of Whittier, NC, Ricky (Nira) Franklin of Bryson City, NC, and Timmy (Doris) Franklin of Walhalla, SC.
Janice was a retired teacher’s assistant of Lexington Country School District Two where she loved to help teach children daily. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home in Lexington, SC. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Interment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens in West Columbia, SC. The Rev. Johnny Brewington will officiate.
