James Lee Williams, known as Jim and by some affectionately called “Jimmy Lee,” age 78, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Jim was born on June 13, 1945 in Wilmington, NC to the late Doyle Williams and the late Ruby Viola Stewman Williams.
An astute businessman with an exceptionally strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, Jim founded, owned, and operated several businesses in South Carolina including, Williams Auto Sales and Mr. Beeper, Inc. He knew all facets of his businesses from the ground up with a clear vision for success.
Jim moved to N. Myrtle Beach where he began a Property Management Business and found time to pursue his passion for boating and deep sea fishing, activities which he enjoyed in the company of longtime friends and family.
An expert boater and avid fisherman, Jim captained boats and traveled with friends to various places for recreation, as well as, to Marlin tournaments throughout the Southeast. Among his other interests, Jim enjoyed woodworking and building various pieces of furniture.
Jim never met a stranger, and his trademark wit and humor will forever be missed by family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife, Deborah “Debbie” Jordan Williams; his son, Tracy “Tray” Allen Williams, of Tampa, FL; his grandsons, Parker Williams, Carson Williams, and Jackson Williams, all of Tampa, FL; his sisters, Brenda Williams Smothers and Patricia Williams Simons; his brothers, Robert David Williams, Terry Dale Williams, and Jeffrey Todd Williams (Karen), all of Rock Hill, SC. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Lucky, who he adored.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Jim at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home – Lexington Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072.
