LEXINGTON – Services for James Paul Staehr, 72, will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at 2:00 pm at St. Stephens Lutheran Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 20, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
Mr. Staehr passed away on Friday, May 17, 2013. Born in York, Nebraska, he was son of the late Paul Carl Staehr and Silvia Kruse Staehr. He was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church and was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Waco, Nebraska, where he also attended parochial school. Mr. Staehr had 21 years in the Nuclear Submarine Service in the US Navy and retired as Lt. Commander. After his naval service, he worked for 30 years for many nuclear related industries. Jim loved hunting, farming and his family.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Lee Gocke Staehr; sons, Ross Staehr of Granbury, TX and Jay (Angela) Staehr of Heath Springs, SC; sisters, Patricia (Mike) Meierhenry of Lincoln, Nebraska and Mary (Don) Beattie of Papillion, Nebraska and grandchildren, Justin and Tyler Staehr and Matthew and Patrick Staehr.
