Lake Murray – A funeral service for James Rezin Boozer, Jr. 94, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Bethel Lutheran Church in White Rock with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to All Seasons Hospice, 7142 Woodrow St. Irmo, SC 29063.
Mr. Boozer was born March 23, 1921 in Columbia, SC and passed away Monday, February 1, 2016. He served our country in the United States Army. He was called to active duty September 6, 1940. He landed in Normandy, France D+4 on Omaha Beach “code name” (Red Fox) and served in five main battles. Mr. Boozer received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, W/V & Oak Leaf Cluster as well as the Purple Heart. He was discharged December 7, 1945 then recalled to active duty in 1950 to Fort Benning, Georgia and discharged in 1954.
In 2011 Mr. Boozer had the honor to visit the WWII Memorials by invitation of the Honor Flight. He worked for the Post Office and had a Radio TV Repair Shop. He enjoyed swimming at the green hole, bowling and his all-time favorite playing golf.
Surviving are daughters, Sandra Lyles (Chris) and Donna Brown; son, James R. Boozer, III (Patsy); grandchildren, Maria “Pebble” Briggs (Fatback), Chris Lyles, Jr. (Barbara), Jennifer Williams (Anthony), Ahnna Boozer, J.J. Boozer and Bobby Fort (Laura); six, great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and his sister, Mickey Robinette. Predeceased are his wife, Ruth Moore Boozer; father, James R. Boozer, Sr., mother, Velma Hair Boozer; two grandchildren; sister, Virginia Jones and brother, Tom Boozer.
