LEXINGTON - Helen Ruth Leaphart Wood, 86, wife of the late Ralph McKinley Wood passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015. A Celebration of Helen’s Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Red Bank Baptist Church with interment in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Rena Steele Sunday School Class.
Born in Columbia, South Carolina, on August 26, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Hanvy Lewie Leaphart and Beda Mae Taylor Leaphart. She was a faithful member of Red Bank Baptist Church and the Rena Steele Sunday School Class. She appreciated all the visits, calls, cards and the sweet treats received from her family and friends.
Surviving are her children and spouses: son, Randy (Pat) Wood, of Corpus Christi, TX; daughters Debie (Steve) Allen of Pleasant Hill, MO and DiAnne (Earl) Johns, of Lexington, SC. She is also survived by grandchildren, Nikki (Neil) Brown, Floresville, TX, Ryan (Ashley) Wood, Etters, PA, Erin O’Shea, Wilkesboro, NC and three great-grandchildren, Myles, Aspen
and Ryley.
Helen is also survived by sisters, Laura M. Wingard and Betty L. Huffstetler (Gene) both of Lexington, SC and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; husband, Ralph M. Wood and brother, Louie H. Leaphart.
