David Odell Kelly, 74, of Chapin, SC passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023. He was born in Chapin, SC on October 23, 1948. Mr. Kelly was predeceased by his parents Homer Lea and Annie Julia Kelly of Chapin, SC.
David was a commercial electrician by trade. He was an avid gardener that provided many vegetables for his family and his wife to can. The shores of Lake Murray was his happy place. He enjoyed countless fishing adventures with his brother, son-in-law, and grandson. He could tell you every piece of history of Lake Murray as well as the good fishing spots. Although, he kept the best ones for him and his brother if you would ask his son-in-law. Gardening and Fishing were definitely on the top of his list. However, nothing was more special to him than spending time with his wife, Jane, even if it was swinging on their swing in their backyard. He loved going to anything that involved his grandchildren and loved always giving them wise words of wisdom. His family is comforted to know that David was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and had accepted him as his Lord and Savior.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Boatwright Kelly of 25 years; his (step) daughter, April Hamilton and son-in-law Chris Hamilton; grandchildren, Zoe Hamilton and Connor Hamilton; his brother, Richard (Susie) Kelly; and his sisters, Jackie (Norman) Stauffer, Julia Abrams, and Jean (Terry) Randolph.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 2nd, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. A burial service will follow at Lexington Memorial. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service from 12:00-12:45 p.m.
