CHARLESTON - Clarence Cochran Carr, 90, of North Charleston and Prosperity, died Saturday, July 21, 2012, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Beatrice Kinney Carr and brother, Lewis Carr, Jr. He is survived by his daughters, Sue Bolton and Linda Carr; granddaughters, Deborah (Robert) Roy, Laurel (Craig) Jeffries and Sabrina Bolton.
Born in Texas on March 16, 1922, as a teen he was known to serenade his girlfriends on horseback. He served proudly in World War II in the Army Air Corps, completing 35 missions in a B-17 bomber. His work ethic was remarkable, as was his ability to make friends. He loved nature and animals and his special relationship with dogs was a joy to witness. When fishing, he loved the battle against a big gar. He was down-to-earth, extraordinarily intelligent and had an insatiable quest for knowledge and adventure. He had a pleasing personality with a riotous sense of humor. He left this world with “All Flags Flying.” He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington, South Carolina. A military interment will be held Saturday in Pikeville, KY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Houston SPCA or the Pikeville, KY VFW.
