Cherie,  words cannot express just how deeply so many will feel the loss of Bobby.  I cannot imagine Emmaus without him.  The love you two shared for one another was truly to be admired.  May God bring you strength and comfort in the days and weeks ahead and may your memories lift you when you are feeling low.  I so wish I could have been able to make the service. All of us blessed to have met or worked with Bobby were blessed in so many ways. Bobby was an “experience” himself. He enjoyed people and life and we are all better for having our paths cross whether in State government or School Board service or one of the many activities he found pleasure and service.

So sorry to hear Mr Bowers passed away. I remember him as a kind, gentle soul. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Debbie and I ,(and Nana too ) will NEVER forget the love and gentleness that you bestowed upon our  son Brad as he went and found a new home in Lexington and at Lexington United Methodist Church.  Brad truly enjoyed his time spent with you, especially the Wed. night suppers at church. Again, thank you sooooo much for being such a GREAT mentor to Brad.

Pam and I send our  sincerest sympathy to Cherie, Dawn, David and the family.  What a pleasure it was to have worked with and known such a unique and talented person as Bobby. His positive approach and influence on so many will always be remembered. I can’t recall a time when I didn’t see a rolled up paper sticking out of his pocket as he walked around the statehouse area; and I wondered who his next meeting was with.....his knowledge and expertise in reapportionment were unsurpassed.  We will miss Bobby but will always have him in mind, as he might say he’ll be “in camera” with the Judge.

Bobby was truly one of a kind!!  I always enjoyed being around him at the statehouse!!  He was uplifting and the best story teller of all time!!  He will be missed by all.  My thoughts and prayers for the family.

Bobby was a wonderful man - full of stories, full of life and full of love for public education!  Even well after he retired, I was never surprised to learn that he was consulting with a school district - typically, he would call and let me know, and then follow with several stories.  A true SC treasure - he will be missed!

Bobby (Mr. Bowers) was my high school senior algebra and trig teacher who left a lifelong impression on me. He took 2 of my most hated subjects and taught me in spite of myself. His classes were always fun and lively as he was only 5 years older than we were. His passing leaves void in my life as it does in others. My prayers to his family. Godspeed Bobby.

It's a different world without Bobby.  He was one of my favorites.  Of course, I knew him at Lexington High School but, more importantly, as a numbers guy when we worked on redistricting.  How he could work with numbers & politicians and maintain a sense of humor was totally amazing.  Of course, we also ran into each other with school board matters.  Bobby was a very special person, always so helpful, always so kind.  Thank you for sharing him with all of us.  We've lost a treasure.  


Bobby was a long time friend and fellow state employee. I’ll miss his smile and his love for our state.  So many wonderful memories of a fine man. See you on the other side my pal. God bless and comfort his family and friends.  

My first meeting was at a Emmaus retreat. I was overwhelmed by the love, affection and passion for sharing the love of Jesus  Christ he had. Always quick with a joke and a smile.  He truly made me feel so at home and loved. I will miss him greatly.  Welcome home to heaven Mr Bobby. 

We were shocked and saddened to hear of Bobby passing.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you Cherie and all of the family. May the Lord hold you in the hollow of his hand to comfort and give you peace in the days to come.

As the son of the “other” Bobby Bowers I had so much picking at Bobby and he always could return the favor.  Seriously he was always so kind to me and he was never at a loss. Ms. Cherie and the rest of your family we share your loss but not as those with no hope.

Too many memories to share but will always treasure the friendship we shared. He was always the life of the SC Election Conference. Thoughts and prayers are with his Wife, Cherie, his children and the grandchildren that he loved so much. 

LOVED this guy!!! He was the best emcee I could ever have wished for, at Randy’s 40th Birthday Roast and Celebration years ago!!! Heaven sure gained a very funny guy who always told it like it was!!! We will miss you, Bobby!!! LOTS of years, and LOADS of great memories!!! With Randy Halfacre

Bobby was a client when I worked at a bank in Lexington.  From the first meeting I knew he would be much more than a client, he would become a good friend.  His sense of humor was amazing! I loved listening to his stories, he painted pictures with his words.  He loved his friends and family and he loved his job.  His gift was being so quick witted.  Somewhere along the way, he mentioned his family in Aiken - I started naming some of them and he was taken aback - just about the only time I've ever seen him at a loss for words.  He lived life to the fullest.  My love,  prayers and condolences go to his family and friends.  

I only met Bobby last year when my daughter Kelly married his son Mark.  I prayed a long time for a loving family for my daughter and he finally answered. I will treasure the few times we got together for dinner and I will miss you in future ones we have. Rest In Peace Bobby. I will always remember how you loved my daughter and her children and welcomed them with open arms.
