A lifelong resident of Lexington, SC, she was born on February 24, 1942 to the late Jacob Leonard and Mildred Funchess Metz.
She was employed in her earlier years at Southern Bell and retired from Lexington School District I Administrative Office. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a special gift for making a day brighter for friends, neighbors and her family with her home-cooked meals, visits, and special greeting cards. She was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church where she was baptized and married. She was the current organizer of the Lexington High Class of 1960 reunions and breakfasts and was looking forward to the 63rd reunion in May.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Charles Metz of Laurens.
She leaves behind to treasure her memory her adoring husband and constant companion of 61 years, Wyman; daughters, Wynee (Patrick) Rich of Lexington, Leslie (Tommy) Bell of Leesville; grandchildren, Lindsay (Tim) Provin, Barrett (Madison) Lollis, and Austin Rich; brother, William L. Metz; nieces and nephews, and so many friends she made over her lifetime. She was looking forward to the birth of her first great-grandchild, Liam Lollis, in May.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, 119 North Church Street, Lexington, SC 29072. A visitation will follow service in the Fellowship Hall of St. Stephens Lutheran Church.
