Betty T. Howell, wife of the late Estes B. Howell, Jr., passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, with family at her bedside. Funeral services will be held at Lexington Baptist Church Worship Center on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11:00 am. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. The Reverend Dan Williams will be officiating and there will be a private graveside service at Woodridge Memorial Park.
Born April 30, 1929 in Rome, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Charles Noel Turpin and Florida Evans Turpin.
Mrs. Howell attended public schools in Floyd County, Georgia and was a graduate of Rome Girls High School in Rome, Georgia. Mrs. Howell was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Howell was a member of Lexington Baptist Church since August 1970. Several years ago, she worked with nursery and pre-school children in Sunday school.
At the time of her passing, Mrs. Howell was survived by her daughters, Royce H. Vickery (Stephen) of South Pittsburg, Tennessee; Esther H. Ilderton (Mark) of Lexington, South Carolina; Sharon H. McEntire of San Diego, California; and Susan H. Spires (John) of Lexington, South Carolina; sons, William S. Howell (Doris) of Purvis, Mississippi; Regley E. Howell (Genee) of Harrison, Tennessee; Albert E. Howell (Tara) of Lexington, South Carolina, and Andrew C. Howell of Lexington, South Carolina; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Estes B. Howell, Jr.; her brothers, Charles A. Turpin, Wilbur M. Turpin, and James A. Turpin, Sr.; and grandson, Charles Baswell Howell.
A special thank you to Brent Caughman, a family friend who Mrs. Howell thought of as a son, and to Crystal White and Ganell Way her devoted and loving caregivers.
