She grew up in Garfield, New Jersey and was the daughter of Dominic John Buglino and Ada Elizabeth Buglino. She went to Pompton Lakes High School and was voted most attractive her senior year of high school. After graduation in 1956, Alice married Arthur O. Finley, her high school sweetheart. They were married for 66 years and together for 70.
After Arthur spent his four years in the military, they started their family in Piscataway, NJ, welcoming their first-born, Debra, followed by Arthur and Brett. As they grew, she enjoyed supporting their activities and many sports teams.
Alice spent 40 years working as an office manager and executive secretary at Standard Federal and Cable Conveyor Systems. She was an avid bowler, and while still living in NJ she bowled on her family's team, Buglino and Sons, with her father, husband and brothers, Don and John. After moving to South Carolina, Alice bowled and played softball for Standard Federal with her favorite teammate, daughter Debra. Later in life, Alice enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and supporting their activities and sports teams.
Alice was the most wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother - the picture of grace, beauty and class while always thinking of others before herself. For over 28 years, she was her mother's caregiver while continuing to work during that time.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents and brothers. She is survived by her husband, Art; her children, Debra Thwaites (Chet), Arthur (Lannie), and Brett (Belinda); grandchildren, AJ Finley, Morgan Finley and Elie Finley; her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Buglino and brother-in-law, Emmett Finley and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was taken care of by the wonderful people of Amedisys Hospice with her lead caregiver, Jennifer Hackney.
