Auburn - Yvon A. Blais 88, formerly of 632 Main St., Lewiston died Sunday June 26, 2011 at Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice with his family by his side. Born in St. Prospere P.Q. Canada April 16, 1923 a son of the late Joseph and Anne Marie Gagnon Blais. He attended St. Peter's School and Lewiston High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, and owned and operated the family business of Blais & Sons Construction on Main St. in Lewiston. Mr. Blais was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Family Church and was married May 11, 1946 to the former Bernadette Asselin. She died March 1, 2010. He enjoyed his family, carpentry work, his swimming pool, playing cards, playing golf, hunting & fishing in his earlier days and bingo in his later years. He will be remembered by being a good worker & provider, and most of all, his keen sense of humor & practical jokes. Yvon is survived by his daughters: Connie Durrell and husband Gil of Farmington, Dot Dubois and husband Denis of Lewiston, a son: Gil L. Blais and wife Anne of Columbus, Ohio, seven grandchildren: Travis Dubois and wife Tracie, Aimee Dubois, Andre Dubois, Grant Durrell and wife Emily, Lynelle Schumacher and husband John, Jeff Blais and wife Pam, Jody Blais and wife Kim, eight great-grandchildren: Corey, Cassidy, Holden, Colin, Britney and Nicholas Blais, Josiah and Ethan Durrell, a sister: Yvette Ellis of CA two brothers: Raymond Blais of FL, George Blais and wife Helen of NH. He was also predeceased by: a sister: Rita Betts and a brother-in-law Ray Ellis.
