Lewiston - Vivian Louise Roy, 97, of Lewiston died peacefully on September 26, 2022 after a brief illness. She was born on September 8, 1925, the daughter of Ernest and Sylvia Goulet. She was the eighth of sixteen children. On August 28, 1948 she married Robert P. Roy of Auburn and together they raised 3 children. Although she lived and worked in Lewiston-Auburn, she and her family loved to spend summers camping in the woods and along the shores of the many lakes and ponds in central Maine. They especially loved Four Seasons Campground in Naples and spent many summers there with family and friends. Never one to be idle, she filled her days with long walks, arts and crafts, puzzle-making, baking, word searches, card games, feeding birds, and reading. Perhaps the key to her longevity, she also enjoyed a glass of milk almost every day. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family, even traveling on her own to visit family in Colorado at the age of 88. In addition to cherished time with her family, she also had many friends and was a beloved resident of The Woodlands in Lewiston and St. Mary’s Residences (formerly Maison Marcotte) for over 20 years. She was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother (Memere) and great-grandmother and will be lovingly remembered for her eternally positive outlook on life.
She is survived by her son Robert E. Roy and his wife Judith of Raymond, ME; her daughter, Sylvia Cage of Lafayette, CO; four granddaughters, Dawn Inderbitzen, Jennifer Stevens, Sara Vanderheiden and Cassondra Stavros; a grandson, Jared Roy; and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Sylvia Goulet; her husband Robert P. Roy; her son, Dennis Roy; her daughter, Leah Roy and fifteen brothers and sisters.
The family would like to thank the staff at Russell Park Manor and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
