Auburn - Robert L. Sutton, 75 years young, of 48 Randall Rd., Lewiston, passed away December 3, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer at The Hospice House with his family by his side. He was born November 20, 1936 in Lewiston, Maine, the son of Lucien and Adrienne (Desjardins) Sutton. Robert graduated from St. Dominic's High School in 1955. He married Jeannette Cote June 1, 1957 at St. Peter and Paul's Church in Lewiston. Throughout their 54 years of marriage, they've resided in Lewiston, Boothbay Harbor, and Winslow, working at the 1st National, Value House, VIP and Country Kitchen. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Rotary Club, Auburn Seniors Club, Jacques Cartier, and was Vice President and Food Coordinator at the Sabattus Seniors. He loved to cook, whether it was for big functions, family get-togethers, or the holidays. Dancing was also a big part of his weekends out. He loved gardening, cooking, taking trips and getting together with his children and many grandchildren. Bob loved to go to Hollywood Slots, betting his minimal amount of money and watching the people. He also was more than willing to make that dollar bet with his wife or son-in-law Pete for the pure joy of betting on the underdog. Bob was a music lover and you would hear him whistling or singing out loud and dancing around the house while he was cooking. After returning from church on Sundays, he would turn the music on and dance with Jean and his children.
Survivors include his wife Jeannette (Cote) Sutton, three daughters Kimberley (Sutton) White and Fiance Denis Cotton, Sandra (Sutton) Doyon and husband Peter Doyon, and Lisa (Sutton) Young and friend Cindy Wallace, a son Eric Sutton and wife Nancy, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind three brothers Bertrand Sutton and wife Constance, Raymond Sutton and wife Laurette and Roger Sutton and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Erickson, Dr. Ross, Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice and The Hospice House in Auburn.
