

Robert G. Gélinas, 84, of Lewiston died peacefully at Hospice House on September 21, 2008. He was born in Fall River, Mass., on January 3, 1924, to Eugene and Rose Gélinas. He moved to Lewiston, Maine where he attended St. Peter’s School. He was in the Army and served in France and Germany during WWII. He married his sweetheart, Lucille Villeneuve on August 30, 1947, at Holy Cross Church. They lived in Holy Cross Parish for the entire 61 years of their marriage, where they raised seven children. Bob held a variety of jobs during his lifetime. He delivered groceries as a teenager, he was a medic in the Army, he owned a gas station, he was a hand-sewer, and he was a janitor at Holy Cross School. But mostly he loved being a husband, a dad, and a pépère. He is survived by the love of his life, Lucille, and six of his seven children: Roger and his wife, Cindy, of New Gloucester. Richard and his wife, Suzan, of South Portland. Son-in-law Gaetan Marquis of Lewiston. Roland and his fiancée, Diane, of South Monmouth. Jeanne Nephew and her husband, Robert, of Atlanta, Georgia. Gérard and his wife, Stephanie, of Lewiston. Marie Galonski and her husband, Adolph, of Durham, Maine. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is survived by two sisters, Sr. Blanche Gélinas of the Sisters Of Charity of St. Hyaçinthe, Canada, Cecile Gélinas of Lewiston, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one daughter, Louise Marquis in 1995, 5 brothers, and 5 sisters. NOTICE Gelinas- Died in Auburn Sunday September 21, 2008. Mr. Robert G. age 84 a resident of Lewiston. A Funeral Mass celebrating Robert’s life will be held Wednesday 11AM at Holy Cross Church. Interment in the family lot at St. Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity Catholic School Scholarship Fund, 17 Baird Ave., Lewiston, or the Hospice House of Androscoggin, 236 Stetson Road, Auburn, Maine.
