Marcel was born in Lewiston, Maine, on May 1, 1946 the son of Rene and Therese (Blais) Morin. Marcel was educated in Lewiston Catholic Schools and graduated from Saint Dominic High School in 1964. He obtained an Associates Degree in Accounting from Bliss College in 1966.
Marcel was a pawn broker and owner of Pine Tree Trading for 34 years. Pine Tree Trading was not just a business to him, it was a local gathering place for friends and family alike. It was known as “Precinct 2” due to the number of police officers that hung out there as well as “Lower Lodge” where Masonic Brothers gathered. You would think that all of the world’s problems were being solved at Pine Tree Trading over a can of Moxie. Marcel gained a vast knowledge in his years as a pawn broker and was a Collector of ALL Things! Marcel will always be known as a fantastic story teller, master conversationalist, proverbial teller of jokes, and for his Marcel-isms. Marcel lived by the phrase “there are no strangers in this world, only friends we haven’t met yet”.
Marcel was an avid sportsman and experienced photographer and very much enjoyed spending time in the outdoors. He LOVED fly fishing and his time in the Kennebago Region and his “honey holes!”. He always treasured his annual Father’s Day fly fishing trips. He was a member of the Androscoggin Fish and Game where he enjoyed trap shooting. He was an excellent marksman with several trap shooting victories and a State Championship. Marcel loved four wheeling in his Rhino and later in the Ranger Crew which was equipped with snow tracks so he could explore in the Winter too! He loved watching and photographing his grandkids in their various sports, academics and musical activities. Marcel spent many hours in his home knife studio where he created custom hunting and fishing knives from raw steel bars and various unique handle materials.
Marcel served his community with pride. Some of his services to his community include: President of the PTA at McMahon school, a Lewiston school board member, The Lion’s Club, Elk’s Club, the Kora Shrine, and most dear to his heart, he was an active member of the Webster Masonic Lodge # 164 where he found brotherhood and friendship. His Masonic achievements include Past Master of Webster Lodge, Past District Educational Rep and District Deputy for the 23rd District of the Grand Lodge of Maine. Marcel was also a 32nd Degree Mason.
Marcel is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 57 years Lil Morin, children Mike, Greg and companion Missy, Tim and wife Sarah, Amy, and bonus daughters Jen and Holly. Grandchildren Dylan and wife Maegan, Mason and fiancée Sarah, TJ, Reese, Katie, Lilyanna, and Ally. Siblings Larry (Connie), Richard (Paul), Pat (Ron), Rene (Pauline), Don (Cheryl), Jackie (Claude), and a loving extended family and friends that became family.
Marcel was predeceased by his parents Rene and Therese (Blais) Morin, Father-In-Law Omer Canuel, and grandson Spencer Morin.
Today seems a little darker now that he has passed as the world was a brighter place because HE was in it!
