AUBURN – Lisa Marie Rines, 61, of Leeds, died peacefully on Jan. 8, 2024, ending a heroic battle with breast cancer. Lisa was born in Lewiston, on Nov. 19, 1962, the daughter of Gerard and Lorette Goulette. She graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1981.
Lisa married the love of her life, Walter “Skip”, on April 13, 1985, and from there, they began to raise their family in Sabattus. She worked as a software developer at Paychex for over 25 years. While she enjoyed time at the ocean, reading, games, and the occasional stargazing (can’t forget about her Coca-Cola and chocolate), Lisa found her true happiness surrounded by the ones she loved, including her frequent walks with her dog, Buster. Though Lisa didn’t follow the traditional Catholic path she was raised in, she placed a high value on her personal spirituality.
Lisa was predeceased by her father, Gerard Goulette.
Lisa is survived by her mother, Lorette Goulette; her husband, Walter Rines III; sister, Laurie Rhoades and brother-in-law, Tim Rhoades; daughter, Christina Behne, and son-in-law, Christopher Behne, son, Walter Rines IV and daughter-in-law, Hannah Rines, son, Benjamin Rines and daughter-in-law, Michaela Rines; her six grandchildren who loved their “Mimi” dearly, Grace, Anna, Mayble, Bronte, Abraham, and Walter V; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Lisa’s Thank-You’s:
To my husband, thank you for the loving and gentle care right from the beginning. It started with months of chemo. He never gave up. He has been my forever love. I’ll see you again, my one true love.
To my mother, thank you for showing me unconditional love, your beautiful grace, and belief in God.
To my daughter, Chrissy, for the non-stop care and concern right from the very start. She has been a wonderful daughter, more than words can express – my angel.
To my sons, Ben and Walter, for their strength and love.
To my sister, Laurie, for sitting by my bedside many days to reminisce and talk about our happy stories together.
And to many friends, some I would refer to as “sistahs” and “brothers”, as well.
Lisa and her family would like to thank Dr. Brian Haney and the entire staff at New England Cancer Specialists in Topsham, for their wonderful care, and the tireless efforts of Summer and the staff at Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice.
A committal service for Lisa will be held June 28th at 2:00pm at Plains Road Cemetery in Leeds.
Arrangements by Pinette Dillingham and Lynch Funeral Home Lewiston. 784-4023.
It was Lisa’s wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to Trinity Jubilee Center in Lewiston, where she actively donated.
