James Fletcher Bates

Jim grew up in Winchester, MA, the third of eight children. After graduating from Winchester High School, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed on the USS Hancock and served from 1966 to 1970.

He is survived by his brothers; William E. (Lynn) of Acton, MA and John L. of Washington Heights, UT, his sisters; Mary Anne (Rick) Shube of Littleton, CO, Elizabeth (Jeff) Miles of Island Park, ID and Margaret (Kevin) Butler of Old Saybrook, CT. As well as his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers Thomas M. and Paul J. Bates.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 11 am at St Philip Church, 2365 Turner Road, Auburn, ME. A burial will follow at Mt Hope Cemetery, Lewiston, ME.
