LEWISTON — Gisele L. Gilbert, 85, formerly of Genest St., died Monday, July 11, at Ste. Marguerite d'Youville Pavilion where she resided for the past 8 1/2 years. Born in Lewiston on Sept. 4, 1930, a daughter of Zephirin and Lucienne Ouellette Mailhot, she was educated in Lewiston schools and married Clement A. Gilbert on Oct. 23, 1954. He died Aug. 24, 1994. Mrs.
Gilbert was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Family Church and Ladies of Ste. Anne's Sodality. She worked in the shoe textile industry at Bates Manufacturing Co. and retired as a housekeeper from Holy Family rectory. She enjoyed playing bingo, slot machines and dancing. Gisele will be remembered for her love of life.
She is survived by her sisters, Noella Gauthier of Lewiston, Jeannine McGraw and husband, Normand, of Lewiston; her brother, Roger L. Mailhot of West Warwick, RI.; brother-in-law, Henry Gilbert and wife, Lois; sister-in-law, Carmen Gilbert; many nieces and nephews; great- and great-grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Jeanne d'Arc Dozois; husband, Fernand; sister-in-law, Viviane Mailhot; Jackie Vaillancourt and husband, Laurier (Red); and brother-in-law, Gil Gilbert.

Visitation at The Fortin Group/Lewiston on Wednesday, July 13, 4 to 7 p.m. A celebration of life remembered by a Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 14, 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 607 Sabattus St., Lewiston. Committal St. Peter's Cemetery.
