LEWISTON George Roy, 90, of Lewiston, Maine passed away peacefully on Friday, September 3, 2021 at the Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice surrounded by his family. Born in Saint Agatha, Maine to Jeanine and Maxine Roy. He lived most of his life in Lewiston, Maine.
George was an Army Veteran proudly serving his country in the Korean War from 1951-1952. He received a Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and a National Defense Service Medal. George retired from Camden Yards in 1993. George had a strong work ethic and was a passionate and devoted family man. He enjoyed taking walks, watching The Boston Red Sox, Western movies and listening to Frank Sinatra. George was committed to his true love of 65 years, Theresa Roy, who he would refer to as “ma” and who he loved with his entire being.
George was proud of his children and grandchildren. He would share stories about them with everyone he met gleaming with pride. He was often outnumbered by his 6 six daughters Rose Marie Roy of Lewiston, Dorothy Roy of Lewiston, Linda O’Connor of Turner, Mary Jane Roy of Lewiston, Michelle Roy of Waterville and Lisa Roy of Lewiston. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Roy Brooks of Lisbon and his brother Maxine June Roy Jr. of Florida; as well as 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
George is pre-deceased and joins his son Anthony Roy in Heaven, his sisters Cecile Roy Marquis and Reine Roy Pelletier and his brother Leo Roy.
Visitation will be held Monday September 13th at The Fortin Group 70 Horton St. Lewiston from 2-4 and 6-8, a Mass of Christian burial will be held at Ss. Peter and Paul Basilica upper church Tuesday September 14th at 11am with committal to follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
