Auburn, ME – Denise F. Dutil passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Born on August 27, 1935, Denise was the daughter of Joseph Lessard and Marie Blanche (Pelchat) Lessard. She grew up in Canada with her parents and nine siblings.
She married Jean Noel Dutil in 1957 and went on to have five daughters. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and perseverance.
Denise was a devoted wife and mother, creating a warm and joyful home for her five daughters. She worked nearly 40 years in the finishing department at Bates Mill before retiring and was a dedicated parishioner of St. Peter and Paul Church for over 60 years.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—family cookouts, days at the beach, playing cards and games, and gathering with loved ones. Known for her kindness, generosity, and selflessness, she left a lasting impact on everyone she met. Her presence could brighten any room, and her unconditional love was a gift that never wavered.
Above all, Denise cherished her family. She was a tireless source of love, support, and wisdom for her children and grandchildren.
In her final years, Denise made her home at Schooner Estates, where she quickly formed deep friendships with both residents and staff. Her family is profoundly grateful for the love and companionship she found there—relationships that became just as cherished as family.
Denise’s love, strength, and unwavering devotion will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The imprint she left on our hearts will last a lifetime.
She is survived by her children: Carolle and Greg McElroy, Sylvie Dutil, Line Auger, Luce and Bob Rivard, and Lucie and Walter Hill; her grandchildren: Louis Doyon, Jason Lyden, Jessica Auger, and Ashley Hill; her great-grandchildren: Adam, Bradley, and Abrahm Doyon; and her sisters, Rose-Hélène Lessard and Marie-Blanche Lessard, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jean Noel Dutil and siblings Gérard, Anne-Marie, Margueritte, Antoinette, Monique, Bernadette and Philippe.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday April 4 at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway. In Lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to Prince of Peace Parish 607 Sabattus St., Lewiston or to Sweetser of Maine, donations may be made right through their website.
