Auburn, ME – Claude A. Cloutier, 85, of Poland, ME passed away on Monday July 3, 2023 surrounded by his family following a short illness. He was born in Lewiston, ME on May 17, 1938 to Wilfred and Mary Jean (Brochu) Cloutier.
In September of 1959 he married Monique V. Morin and remained together for nearly sixty-four years. Together they raised two children. Claude was a work-a-holic, where he catered for many years when he owned and operated Jolly Post Caterer’s and finally retired from United Ambulance Wheel Chair Division in 2007.
Claude touched everyone he knew with his smile and being a jokester. He enjoyed swimming, golfing word search, reading the newspaper and especially camping with his wife, which they did together for many years. Also, Claude had a passion for hockey and served as an outstanding goalie for several teams throughout the twin cities including Bates Manufacturing Team. However his favorite passion was the love of his two grandchildren Dan and Emi which he proudly displayed on his license plate.
He leaves behind his wife Monique, two children Susan J. McClellan and her husband Scott of Hartford, ME, John M. Cloutier of Murrells Inlet, SC, his two grandchildren Daniel J. Cloutier and his fiancée Jasmine, and Emilie P. Cloutier. He also leaves his brother Gerald Cloutier and his wife Yolande, in laws Charlie Morin, Doris Bergeron, Paul Morin, Ron Beauchesne, and many nieces and nephews.
Claude was predeceased by his parents as well as his brothers Roger, Larry and Bert and his sisters Delores Roy and Jeannine Cloutier, good friend John Ayotte and friend/brother-in-law Moe Levesque.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Monday, July 10, 2023 from 9 – 11 am at the Fortin Group, 70 Horton Street, Lewiston, ME, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at Holy Cross Church, 1080 Lisbon Street, Lewiston.
