Known as Pinky, Ma, or most of all, Grammie Dumais, she was at her best when playing outside in the Maine woods with her family. Pinky grew up on “the farm” in Sabattus during the Great Depression, which profoundly influenced her throughout life. Even as Alzheimer’s so cruelly robbed her of her intellectual capacity, “the farm” was forefront on her mind.
Christine lived a very active and adventurous life. She married William Paul Dumais on October 11th, 1952, the day after her 21st birthday. They were married for twenty seven years, sharing five lively children and running their restaurant franchise, The Chuck Wagon. Always athletic, she taught skiing at Lost Valley, ice skated, cross country skied, and was an avid golfer. She gardened and mowed her own lawn well into her 80s. She was a devout Catholic and involved in her church, St. Philips. She passed down a love of food and the outdoors and will always be dearly loved by her family as our matriarch.
Christine was predeceased by her parents, sisters Marcia Moulin, Mary D’Amour, and Rita Phelan, and brother Leon Vachon. She is survived by her children Marie Dumais, Georgia Dumais, Louise Shaw, Joseph Dumais, and Elizabeth Jones, her grandchildren Nathan Carlmark, Stuart Carlmark, Jesse McIntire, Christine McIntire, Victor Dumais, Mikayla Akerley, Cadance Dumais, Domonique Jones, Zyerra Jones, and Jonnai Jones, and her great grandchildren Zoey, Max, and Ethan Carlmark, Orianna and Owen McIntire, Layla Ann Cyr, and new baby Ivey Jones.
