William R. "Slug" Donahue of Levittown died on Friday, May 5, 2017 at his home. He was 87.Born in Ashland, Mr. Donahue was raised in Centralia, PA. He then moved back to Ashland for several years until moving to Levittown 60 years ago.He worked for U.S. Steel's Fairless Works in the Blast Furnace Division for many years until retiring in 1989.Mr. Donahue was a member of the former St. Joseph the Worker parish for many years and was more recently a member of St. Michael the Archangel parish. He was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Bucks County Division I, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Steel Workers Local #4889.He was a huge fan of Notre Dame Fighting Irish football. He was also an avid gardener and accomplished handyman.Mr. Donahue is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 64 years, Mary (nee Schilling).He is the loving father of Joseph (Eileen), Martin (Theresa), Daniel, Robert (Christine), Patrick (Angela & her daughter Morgan), Maureen Carr (Daniel) and the late William R. (Joanne).He is the devoted grandfather of Kristan Howard (Pat), Andrew (Janine), Kevin, William III, Lindsey, Katie, Michael and Bridget Donahue, Keara, Molly and Ian Carr and the great grandfather of Madelyn and Layne Howard and Ryleigh Donahue.He will also be missed by his sisters, Rose Taylor and Mary Lou Gaughan and many nieces, nephews and extended family including his sister-in-law Lorraine Donahue.He was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph and Michael Donahue.Family and friends are invited to call from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday and 8 until 9 a.m. on Thursday at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown.
