

William Edward Klingerman passed away Monday, March 14, 2016 at Pickering Manor in Newtown, just a few weeks short of his 90th birthday. Bill was an original Levittown homeowner and lived in the Oaktree section before moving to Pickering Manor four years ago.Bill grew up on a farm in Zion Grove, PA. He was a US Navy veteran, enlisting as a teenager and serving in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war, Bill returned to Northeastern PA and worked in the coal mines. He met and married his wife Rose (Kish) and moved to Levittown in 1953. He worked in the Coke Works at US Steel Fairless Works, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed fishing in Levittown Lake, crabbing at the Jersey Shore, and hunting with his sons and friends at the Blue Knob Hunting Club. Bill never passed up the opportunity for a good card game, especially Pinochle. He was also an avid follower of NASCAR.Bill was preceded in death by his wife Rose as well as his sister Lois Woytko and mother Mabel. He is survived by his three sons: William (Karen Nina); Robert (Judith); and Barry (Carole). Additional survivors are his six grandchildren: Bryan (Jill); Candice (Steve); Brad (Stacy); Robert; Matthew; and Patrick; four great-granddaughters Layla, Valerie, Annie and Elle; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Bill's family would like to thank the staff at Pickering Manor and Eleanor's Garden Hospice for the special care he received.Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, from 9:00 until 10:15 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where his funeral service will be held at 10:15 am.
