Thomas Robert Schofield, of Levittown, PA, died at his home on the morning of January 14, 2022 in the care and company of his wife Marian {nee Pawling} Schofield, his loving family, and the nurses from Crossroads Hospice.
He is remembered by his treasured wife of 67 years, Marian, his son Thomas Robert Schofield Jr. and Diane Garofalo, son Gary Dean Schofield and his wife Susan, and daughter Holly Ann {nee Schofield} Davis and her husband Jeffrey. He is also remembered by his seven grandchildren: Ryan Schofield (and partner Stephanie), Zac Brennan (and wife Jamie), Tina Schofield, Michael Schofield (and wife Odalys), Christopher Davis (and partner Madalyn), Julia Davis, and Shannon Davis. Not least of all, he is remembered by his sister Joan Romano (and husband Don), niece Jolee Lieberman (and husband Doug), nephew John Emery (and wife Cheryl), and their families.
Thomas was born in Northeast Philadelphia on November 20, 1931 to Cora Mae {nee Robinson} Schofield and Thomas Albert Schofield. He graduated from Roxborough High School in 1949 a well-liked student who was voted “most artistic” by his peers, and he continued to make beautiful landscape paintings as an adult which continue to adorn the walls of his home. Thomas spent the majority of his working life as an Accounting Manager at BBC Brown Bovere (later called “ITE Philadelphia”), where he met Marian, who worked in his office and hailed from a neighborhood close by. They were wed in 1954 and started a family in Levittown in 1957, where they have been gathering and providing for family and friends ever since.
Thomas was a family man through and through, loved for his honesty, creativity, and consistency by his children and grandchildren. His travels across central Pennsylvania for work, and time spent around the Christmas tree with his children spurred an interest in model trains which absorbed much of his middle age—and upstairs storage space—inviting his youngest family members into a world of imagination, and emblema tizing the lawful and peaceful lens through which he saw life. He also loved reading mystery novels, gardening in his ever-neat backyard, and watching sports in his recliner—particularly his beloved Eagles and Phillies. In his later days, he was known by neighbors and Neshaminy schoolchildren as the friendly crossing guard who seldom missed a day of work, and the grandfather who was there for every holiday and beach vacation. Never one to complain, he could always be counted on to pick up anyone who asked in his sedan, even as his health was declining. He will be dearly missed by all.
His family and friends are welcomed to attend his viewing on Saturday, January 22 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., after which the 10:30 a.m. funeral and burial service will begin. Attendees can find the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc. on 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown, PA 19056, and follow the procession to the burial site at George Washington Memorial Park. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the reception afterwards will be restricted to immediate family members.
Prospective gift-bearers could consider donating in Thomas’ honor to the American Cancer Society instead of flowers.
