Thomas Joseph Mullarkey

Thomas J. Mullarkey of Fairless Hills, PA died peacefully in his sleep on December 17, 2018, he was 83 years old.Born and raised in Dupont PA, Tom was preceded in death by Mary Mullarkey, his wife of nearly 56 years, his parents Thomas and Anna Mullarkey, brother William Mullarkey, and sisters Joan Spudis and Dolores Mullarkey.Tom is survived by his daughter Colleen Timko and her husband Ken, his grandsons Killian and Cameron; his sisters Beverly Wescott and Mary Martin; along with a multitude cousins, nieces, and nephews.Know as "Buddy" to his tribe of friends, he moved to the Fairless Hills area at the age of 17. He worked the rail yards and became a train engineer for US Steel before retiring in 1987. In 1958 he took a 2-year hiatus from US Steel to join the U.S. Army and was Honorably Discharged in 1960. On June 23, 1962 Tom married the love of his life and best friend, Mary Elizabeth Gallagher. Tom began a second career with A. E. Staley in 1988 where he ran the rail yard and retired from there in 2009. Along the way, he started JM&E General Contracting where he worked with numerous businesses in the local area. Tom was an avid member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Bristol PA, and was a Fourth-Degree in the Knights of Columbus, Council 4215 in Levittown PA. A Funeral Mass for Tom will be held at Saint Frances Cabrini Roman Catholic Church, 325 South Oxford Valley Road, Fairless Hills, PA at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 5, 2019, with visitation for friends and family prior to the mass starting at 10:30 am. Following the service, the family will be conducting a celebration of Tom's life at the Ancient Order of the Hibernians Hall, 614 Corson St., Bristol, PA, beginning at 1:30 pm for all friends and loved ones.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 1, Bucks County, 614 Corson St., Bristol, PA 19007, or to the Saint Marys Foundation, One Summit Square, 1717 Langhorne-New Town Rd, Langhorne, PA 19047, in remembrance of Tom.
