Rosemary Barber McGurrin Rosemary Barber McGurrin of Levittown, 86, passed away April 6, 2013, in comfort and peace, surrounded by family. She was born on July 9, 1926 in Scranton, PA to John and Mary Barber. She married Joseph McGurrin in 1949. Together, they made their home in Levittown, PA. Shortly thereafter, they began their family, having 9 children over the next 18 years. Rosemary focused her life on being the best wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. She was a founding member of St. Joseph the Worker parish. In 2007, she relocated to Florida to be closer to her beloved daughters. Rosemary was deeply devoted to her church, parish and community. She volunteered in numerous activities including reading at mass, working Bingo, and serving as the "lunch lady" in a vocation that spanned over 50 years. Rosemary enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and her cherished "club" friends. Family reunions at the beach were among her favorite times. Survived by her brother, Fr. Eugene J. Barber, SJ, 4 sons - Eugene McGurrin, Joseph (Ellen) McGurrin, John (Nancy) McGurrin and James (Heather) McGurrin, and 4 daughters - Eileen (Jim) Deritis, Maureen Love, Ann (Glen) Thiess, and MaryBeth (Simon) Thompstone. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joseph, her daughter Patricia Jackson, and her daughter-in-law Patricia McGurrin. Rosemary is also survived by her 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She will be missed as she was loved - greatly. Family and friends will be received from 6:00 to 9:00pm Thursday, and on Friday, from 8:15 until 9:15 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00am Friday, at St. Joseph the Worker Church, Fallsington, followed by Rite of Committal in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association - Delaware Valley Chapter at 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
