Robert Lakin Fryer, Sr. Robert Lakin Fryer, Sr. died on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at his home. He was 84. Born in Pittsburgh, and formerly of Germantown and North Wales, Mr. Fryer was resident of Levittown for 49 years. He was a 1948 graduate of Lansdale High School and attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics of Tulsa, OK. Mr. Fryer began his working career as an airplane mechanic in Washington, DC for Capital Airlines and United Airlines. He then transferred to US Steel Aircraft Division at Mercer County Airport and then eventually ended up with USX Fairless Works as a diesel locomotive mechanic for over 20 years retiring in 1991. He was an airplane and train enthusiast. Mr. Fryer was a member and 32nd Degree Mason of the Fairless Hills F&AM Lodge #776. Beloved husband of the late Sara Ruth (Cole), Mr. Fryer was the loving father of Robert Lakin Fryer, Jr. and his wife Alicia, Thomas L. Fryer and Annette E Murray and her husband, Robert. He will also be sadly missed by his three grandchildren, Marissa Kitchen, Jason Morgan and Sara Murray and his brother, Philip and his wife, Mary Anne Fryer of Harleysville and his niece Mary Anne Fryer. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, from 9:00 until 10:00 am at the James J. Doughtery Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown where his Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Newtown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum, 11 Museum Drive, Reading Regional Airport, Spaatz Field, Reading, PA 19605.
