Raymond Patrick Mongillo, Sr. Raymond passed Tuesday evening July 8th at his home in Penndel surrounded by his loving family. Raymond had just celebrated his 82nd birthday on July 4th. Born in Feasterville, Raymond was the son of the late Jennie (Fortunato) and Louis T. Mongillo, Sr. He spent the majority of his life in Middletown Township building his plumbing business and raising his family with his beloved wife Margaret. "Monk" as he was known to his friends was a graduate of Neshaminy High School and a member of the NHS Football Hall of Fame. Raymond enlisted in the US Army and served his country proudly in the Korean War. Raymond served on the Middletown Township Planning Commission. He also proudly served as a Middletown Township Supervisor, a position he held for 24 years. He loved Middletown Township and was dedicated to making it a place where people wanted to live and raise their families. He would often be seen during elections driving around Middletown displaying his "Mongillo for Supervisor" sign in his green 1953 Chevy. Raymond was a member of the Korean War Veterans, an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, Saint Joseph the Worker Council 4215, the American Legion Post in Penndel, Lions Club and a member of the Middletown Township Senior Citizens. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Parish in Penndel. Raymond was a man of many interests. Over the years he spent his relaxing moments fishing at Sea Breeze, NJ. Raymond enjoyed playing golf with Margaret on Friday nights at Middletown Country Club as a member of the 49ers. After retiring, he became an avid gardener who enjoyed growing tomatoes and vegetables in his numerous gardens. He also would grow his pumpkin patch for his grandchildren. Raymond was well known for delivering the abundant "fruits of his labor" to family and friends. If you stopped by the house at night you would often find him relaxing in his recliner watching the Phillies. Raymond is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Margaret E. (Perrone). He was the loving father of Raymond P. Mongillo II (Sue) of Penndel, Paul J. Mongillo of Langhorne, Loretta A. Mongillo of Penndel, Mark A. Mongillo of Langhorne and Monica L. Mongillo of Penndel. He was the devoted grandfather of Raymond, Jason, Kyle, Richard, Mark Jr., Nicholas, Casey, Ryan and Miranda and the great grandfather of MacKenzie and Robbie. He was the brother of George P. Mongillo (Gloria), Mary Vizzinni Walters (Bob) and sister-in-law Yolanda Mongillo. Raymond will be dearly missed by his brother and sister-in-law's, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren and friends. Raymond was preceded in death by his grandson Christopher, his parents and his brothers Patrick, Frank and Louis. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday morning 9:00 to 11:00am at Our Lady of Grace Church, 225 S. Bellevue Avenue, Penndel where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am. Interment will be held on Tuesday morning 10:30am at Washington Crossing National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Raymond's name may be made to the Veterans Organization of the donors choice.
