Mick grew up in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania and attending both Our Lady of Grace and St. Frances Cabrini and graduating from Pennsbury Highschool in 1966 where he helped to start the chess team. Following graduation, Mick enlisted in the U.S. Navy through the Buddy System with his great friend Jim. Mick served on the USS Alamo LSD 33 in Vietnam and received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Following his time in the Navy, Mick worked as an accountant, a controller for Brandon's Shipper and forwarder magazine in the World Trade Center and was a business owner. Then, in 2008, Mick became a bus driver for the Neshaminy School District and Wood Services and a van driver for Life Saint Mary’s Elder Care. He loved entertaining the participants and all!
Mick was smitten by a jitterbug and a slow dance with the love of his life, Patty, where he really meant “Can I have this dance for the rest of my life?”. They enjoyed and cherished and were grateful for 51 years. Mick and Patty were blessed with 3 wonderful children: Jenna, Myles and Katie. It was important to coach Myles at Hulmeville Soccer, coach Jenna at Neshaminy Softball League and be an active sideline fan at Katie’s basketball games.
Mick will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Patty, his precious children Jenna Tasker (Ryan); Myles Kilker; Katie Lamont (Jeff); who he told in his last moments “I am so proud to be your Dad”. He will also be missed by his incredible six grandsons: Jackson, Reid and Ronan Tasker; Adam David and Lyam David-Kilker; and Jeffrey Lamont. Mick adored his time spent with his grandsons, especially while watching his favorite Eagles and Phillies!
Survived also by brother, Terence Kilker and daughters: Laura and Melissa; Sisters-in-law, Diane and Barbara Toner; Brother-in-law, Dan Downey (Peg) and their children: Dan (Melanie) and family in Tennessee; and Kelli (Bill) and family.
Besides his loving family, Mick and Patty are so grateful for friends that God placed in their lives to help them in their tough times to make their happy times happier and to just always be there with love and laughter.
This Irishman will be remembered with a smile, as a mischievous jokester and the life of the party. For those that know him, just remember if anyone says to you “What’s on your shirt?” and you look down and they tap your nose, Mick is smiling down at you from Heaven.
So grateful for your love, Sweetheart and Dad. Thank you for always taking such good care of us. Hug everyone for us. Always in our hearts. We love you.
Great husband. Great dad. Great Grandfather. Great friend. Great man.
