Michael was born Miroslaw Wewiora, the second son of Zdzislaw Wewiora and Janina (Imalska) Wewiora, in Bydgoszcz , Poland, on February 11, 1958. He spent his childhood and adolescence mastering judo, playing professional hockey, and tinkering with motorcycles with his friends.
At 26, Michael married the love of his life, Hanna Kolczynska. A year later, they had a daughter, Sylwia, who never knew bath and bedtime without her dad there. Michael and his family eventually relocated to the U.S., where Michael used his resiliency, work ethic, and humor to build a new life for his beloved wife and daughter.
Michael enjoyed staying active, spending his free time biking, skiing, swimming, and taking long walks with the dog. He adored animals, and they adored him. He was a voracious reader and self-proclaimed techie. He always had some home or car project on his mind. He loved to travel, especially to Italy. Michael’s love of hockey endured, and he was a avid fan of the New Jersey Devils.
Michael is survived by his: wife, Hanna; daughter, Sylwia Wewiora, along with her wife, Michelle, and their two children, Oliver and Lucy; brother Wieslaw Wewiora and his family; brother-in-law Slawomir Korszen and his family; and numerous other family members whom Michael held dear.
Michael will be remembered and celebrated at Catholic Mass at The National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, 654 Ferry Rd, Doylestown, PA 18901, followed by a gravesite ceremony. The Mass will be held at the barn chapel in the Shrine’s cemetery at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022.
