Kathleen Viechnicki (nee Sullivan), a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in Levittown, PA, the town she called home for many years. Born in 1962, Kathy was a proud graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1979. She continued her education at Helene Fuld School of Nursing, where she earned her nursing degree in 1983, later dedicating herself as a NICU registered nurse until 1993.
Kathy’s compassion and strength were evident in everything she did. Even after her nursing career was cut short due to disability, she poured her energy into being a full-time mother, and constant source of love for her family. She married the love of her life, Jeffrey W. Viechnicki, in 1984, and they shared many wonderful years together before his passing.
Kathy had a passion for life that showed in her hobbies and the time she gave to others. She loved music—especially playing the guitar and singing—and was an avid reader. Her competitive spirit and warm heart shone through when coaching her daughters’ soccer and basketball teams. Whether on the tennis court or enjoying quiet moments with a good book and her beloved pets, Kathy embraced every part of life.
Kathy is predeceased by her loving parents, William and Patricia Sullivan (nee Cihocki).
Her legacy of strength, compassion, and joy lives on through her daughters, Erin Ibbetson (Ken) and Kelly Laarz (Sean),and her cherished grandchildren: John Paul Ibbetson, Madelyn Grace Laarz, and Gianna Marie Laarz. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she found her greatest joy in being their “Mom-Mom.” Kathy is also survived by her siblings: William Sullivan (Katie), Patricia Beck (Stephan Service), and Joseph Sullivan (Corryn Kronnagel); her nieces and nephews: Kevin Beck (Sara), William, Graham, and Violet Sullivan; multiple great nieces and great nephews, and extended family.
A viewing for Kathleen will be held Monday, April 14, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, Pennsylvania 19056, with her funeral service following. She will be laid to rest at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, 1215 Super Highway, Langhorne, Pennsylvania 19047. Kathy expressed her wishes for everyone to be dressed comfortably and no one wears black.
Kathy will be remembered not only for her strength in the face of adversity but also for the love she gave so freely to those around her. She touched countless lives with her kindness and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
