Joseph was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1955, to his parents Philomena (nee Manuela) and Joseph Corso in the Holmesburg section of Northeast Philadelphia, where he spent his formative years as a member of St. Dominic’s Parish.
In 1967, when Joe was 12 years old, his family moved into their home in the newly developed section of Somerton in Northeast Philadelphia. Joe spent the next 50 plus years in that home with his parents and eventually with his devoted wife, Donna, and their children.
He worked for 35 years at Waste Management, as a Master Truck Technician, and spent the final decade of his career as a Supervising Manager.
Joe loved nothing more than spending time with his 8 grandchildren. Known by his family as “the baby whisperer,” you could always find Joe with a baby in his arms and a smile on his face.
Joe enjoyed the Wildwood Crest beach, anything to do with cars, Sunday night pasta dinners, holding his grandchildren on his lap, and Sci-Fi movies.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Donna Corso (nee Huether); loving father of Joseph D. Corso, Jr. (Dawn), Marisa Berg (Christian), Anthony Corso (Tracy), and Daniel Corso. He is the proud Pop of Teresa, Joey, Logan, and David Corso; Theodor Berg; Madeline, John, and Michael Corso. He also leaves behind his Uncle Gus Corso (Yolanda) as well as several cousins who will miss him dearly.
A viewing will be held at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA 19056 on Monday, July 10, 2023 from 6-8pm; and again on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 from 8:30-9:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to St. Christopher Parish Capital Campaign.
