John Joseph Merrick John Joseph Merrick, 89, son of the late John Patrick and Christina (Fore) Merrick, entered into eternal rest on Sunday November 14, 2010 after a wonderful life. Raised on Chatham Street in Philadelphia, he resided in Lower Makefield and was a founding member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by Mary, his beloved wife of 40 years, and a sister, Helen Kauffman. A member of the Knights of Columbus, he served as a Sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After graduating from LaSalle College in 1948, he became Einstein Medical Center's first comptroller and was a 20-year volunteer for SCORE after retiring as CFO of Crown Textile. John loved to dance, play bridge and golf. He co-sponsored the annual Mary Merrick and Sis Fairbairn Golf Classic and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. A highlight of his year was the family's annual trip to Saratoga Race Track. John's optimism, inspiration and love will be dearly missed by his sister, Alice Brennan; five sons: David, John, Christopher (Patricia), Steven (Elizabeth), Donald; grandchildren: Andrew, Charlotte, Emily, Erin, Kathryn, Patrick, Sean; nieces and nephews: Eileen, Mary Jane, Joseph and Thomas Kauffman, Barbara Ferris, Susan Cousart, Chris Regan, Jim Brennan, Noreen Kraynak; and steadfast friend Rita Devine. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Saturday, 1:00 until 2:00 pm, followed by the celebration of his Funeral Mass at 2:00 pm at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 752 Big Oak Road, Morrisville, PA.
