James G. McLaughlin James G. (Big Mac) McLaughlin, of Levittown died on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Yardley. He was 82. Born in Plymouth, PA, he has been a resident of Levittown for 52 years. Jim retired from the Okonite Company in New Brunswick, NJ in 1991 having worked there for 32 years. He served in the U.S. Army Second Infantry during the Korean Conflict where he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman's Badge. He was a member of the American Legion Post #945 and was a supporter of the VFW. Jim loved 'yard sales", clocks being his specialty. He also loved Notre Dame, the Eagles, the Phillies and watching boxing on television. He always had "freeze pops" for the kids in the neighborhood, biscuits for all of the neighborhood dogs and an "extra chair" for whomever wanted to "sit and chat". Jim was a great husband, father and Pop Pop and will be greatly missed. He always loved to entertain the grandkids with stories of the "old west" and blowing bubbles with them because he enjoyed them most of all. Jim was the beloved husband of Hazel E. (May) McLaughlin for 59 years who met as childhood neighbors and attended Plymouth High School together. He was the loving father of Cindy (Bill) Kee of Rhode Island and Jim, II (Debbie) McLaughlin of Levittown. He was a devoted Pop Pop to four grandchildren, Amanda and Will Kee of Rhode Island and Jim, III and Katie McLaughlin of Levittown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Agnes McLaughlin of Plymouth, sister, Margaret (Mike) Sipsky and father and mother-in-law, Albert and Hazel May of Plymouth. Jim's family would like to thank Odyssey Hospice, especially Debbie and Candace, for being there for them throughout Jim's illness. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown where his funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Family and friends are also invited to gather on Monday from 9:00 until 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home with interment to follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
