Born on September 8, 1937, in Philadelphia, PA, James lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family.
James proudly served in the Pennsylvania National Guard, embodying a spirit of service and duty. He shared 43 wonderful years of marriage with his cherished wife, Marlene, who predeceased him. Together, they built a loving family, raising five children and celebrating the joys of eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
James was a man whose kindness, generosity, and gregarious nature left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Though he donated generously to many charities, St. Jude’s held a special place in his heart. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in memory of James: www.stjude.org.
Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph F. Hogan and Catherine A. Hogan (née Kober), as well as his beloved wife Marlene R. Hogan (née Buono) and daughter Colleen R. Hogan, James’s legacy continues through his surviving children: James P. Hogan of Fairless Hills, Michele C. Wilson and her husband Ron of Quakertown, PA, Timothy Hogan and his wife Allison of Sicklerville, NJ, and Patrick E. Hogan of Painesville, OH. Each carries forward his values and the love he so freely gave.
Services for James will be private for the immediate family only. As we gather to honor James, let us remember him with the warmth and humor he brought into our lives.
In closing, may we hold onto the beautiful Irish blessing that resonates with James’s journey: “May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of His hand” Rest in peace, James, knowing your love and legacy live on in the hearts of those you touched.
