James F. Henderson, Sr. James F. Henderson, Sr. went home to be with his Savior, on Monday, April 20 2015, at his son's home in Levittown. He was 88. Born in Elfers, Florida, Jim was the son of the late Marguerite (Sawyer) and Joseph Franklin Henderson. Jim and his wife were parents to 38 children over the years, having adopted the last four children they fostered. They devoted their lives to taking care of children. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Perkasie. Jim was a man of great faith and integrity. He was a strong, dedicated, hard working man and was an excellent role model to many. Jim was a generous man who was always there to lend a hand to others. He loved fishing and spending time with his family at the family cottage in Perkasie Park. Jim was employed as a building maintenance engineer for the former Bell Telephone for 38 years. He was also an active member of the Pioneers of Bell Telephone. Beloved husband of the late Doris Esther (Abbott), Jim is the loving father to 3 sons, James F. Henderson, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Levittown, David Henderson and his wife, Hiraida of Souderton and Gary Gray and his wife Krysta of Souderton; four daughters, Cheryl A. Fortin and her husand Bryan of Hemmingford, Quebec, Canada, Patricia Dean of Telford, Rachel Ohman and her husband Brian of Philadelphia, Dana Garvin and her husband Jeremiah of Quakertown and Megan Falk of Williamstown, NJ; devoted grandfather of 16; and and proud great grandfather of 3. He is also survived by 2 of his brothers, John H. Henderson and his wife, Pat and Donnie Henderson and his wife Clarice. He was preceded in death by a son, David Robert Henderson, a daughter, Deborah Susan Henderson and a son-in-law, Ted Falk. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, from 9:00 until 11:00 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where his funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Intement will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Perkasie, 1600 North 5th Street, Perkasie, PA 18944.
