James “Jimmie” Fahringer, aged 71, passed away on the beautiful sunny morning of Wednesday, November 2, 2022, in the presence of friends and family. Son of the late James A. and Elizabeth (Lyall) Fahringer, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley, Darla, and brother, Herbert. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth; his sister, Bette (Floyd), as well as many nieces and nephews.
There are no words to describe the vacuum left behind by the passing of such an amazing man. Jimmie was always steadfast and caring; someone you would want in your corner when you were in a bind or didn’t know where to turn. His sharp and clever wit could always get others to smile, and he was perpetually ready to lend a hand to whoever needed it.
He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and jumped right into the workforce. He first worked at US Steel, then 3M, and finally the Rohm and Haas Company/ Dow Chemical until his retirement.
Jimmie had many wide and varied interests - mainly classic cars, motorcycles, and classic rock, which he would play very loudly from his many speaker systems. He often frequented local car shows, and loved antiquing. Always ready with a funny anecdote for every situation or find. He was an avid collector of wind spinners and loved spending time outside appreciating the beauty of nature. He also found great joy at the Radcliffe Café in Bristol PA, quickly becoming a beloved regular, where all the staff knew his usual order.
His true loves however, were his friends, family, and beloved pets. Jimmie always understood the treasure of a lifelong friendship, and the work required to nurture that bond. This was one of his most important lessons. That good friends are a second family, one that will stay with you through thick and thin.
It has been both a profound honor and a privilege to have lived alongside him, he brought so much warmth and light to so many people. A loving brother, uncle, friend, and the absolute best father a kid could have ever asked for. “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard” (A.A. Milne.) Though he may no longer walk beside me, his love and his lessons will last far beyond a single lifetime.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jimmie’s life (and his many antics) on November 15th 2022 from 11 am to 1 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road Levittown PA.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to a charity or cause that is near and dear to you. Thank you so much.
