James J. Campion, formerly of Lower Bucks County died on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at the VA Community Living Center in Wilkes-Barre. He was 85.James J. Campion was born in March 1931 in Schuylkill County, Pa to Thomas and Molly Campion (nee Callaghan), the youngest of eight siblings. He graduated from Cass Township High School in Pottsville, was drafted by the Army and served in the Korean War during 1952-54. His military decorations include the Presidential Unit Citation, US National Defense and Korea Service Medals, United Nations Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and Army Good Conduct Medal. Known lifelong for his sardonic sense of humor, he often said of the Korean War: "All in all, it was perhaps better than having to become a coal miner." After his honorable discharge, by way of the GI Bill he was able to attend La Salle College in Philadelphia and graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Thereafter he worked mostly in sales positions at national and regional companies in pharmaceuticals, electronics, insurance, and real estate. He was a licensed broker in both insurance and real estate. He lived most of his years in Philadelphia, Morristown and Newton, Pa. He spent his last years at the VA Community Living Center in Wilkes-Barre, where he was an enthusiastic karaoke singer, Notre Dame football fan and restaurant diner. Loving father of James P. (Colleen), Thomas A., Judith Devlin (Michael) and Megan A. Boswell (Edward) from his wife of thirty years Evelyn Wahner Campion. He was blessed to have eight grandchildren: (in age order) Brian, Noelle, Michael, Natalie, Alexander, Paris, Miles and Paige; and two great grandchildren: Kayla and Thomas. Family and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday from 9 until 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 752 Big Oak Rd. Morrisville where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am. Interment will take place on Friday, 9:30 am sharp, at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd Newtown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Campions name to DAV.org.
