Helen was born in Wilkes Barre, PA. She was the daughter of the late Elenora (Walker) and Earle Warrell.
Helen is survived by her loving husband Pete of 67 years. She was the loving mother of her 4 children, Kathleen Murr, (David), Peter, (the late Susan), Nancy, (Marc) , and Chucky, her 9 grandchildren, Kevin, Chris, Krystal, Michael, Anita, Beth, Brian, Samantha and Jake, and her great grandchildren, Brayden, Nixon, Jameson, Harper, Hunter, Aubree, Charlee, Evelyn, Leo and Michaela, her sisters Eileen, Nellie, June, and with her in heaven, her brothers Robert, Ralph, Kenneth, Milton, Earle, George and her sisters Elenora, and Shirley.
Helen was a long-time resident of Bucks County and graduated from Neshaminy High School class of 1952, where she played on the girls' basketball team.
She was employed as a cashier at the Penndel Acme, where she would meet and fall in love with her future husband Howard (Pete) Blackshire, then transferred to the new Levittown Acme.
Helen and Pete were married May 21st, 1955. They lived in an apartment in Penndel and soon after purchased their first home in a new development called "Levittown" where they have resided ever since.
They started a family in 1957 and raised their 4 children Kathleen, Peter, Nancy and Chucky.
Helen was a homemaker and worked part time when their children were in school. She worked as a cashier in the Neshaminy School District in the cafeterias and was also a baker at Walter Miller Elementary School.
She enjoyed many hobbies including, sewing, gardening, watching the birds in the backyard, taught herself to play the piano, organ, and electric keyboard. She also enjoyed baking cakes, cookies and pies for all the holidays.
Helen was also a Brownie and Girl Scouts leader for her daughters and a Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts den mother for her sons.
She was an avid RVer, enjoying traveling about the USA for many years with her husband and children. She was the Navigator on all the camping adventures, reading the road maps while her husband Pete drove the family all over the country. They took a cross county trip to Alaska and drove the entire route enjoying the sites on their 5-months excursion. She enjoyed fishing, hiking and sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows for making smores in the evenings and looking at the stars with her telescope.
When they were not traveling, they had a seasonal site at the Scenic Riverview Campground in Tuckahoe, NJ and Lancaster, PA where they spent many a weekend with family and friends. She will be dearly missed by everyone, and her memories will forever be in our hearts.
Friends and family are invited to pay condolences on Sunday, August 14, 2022, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM . and again from, 10:00 until 11:00 am, Monday August 15th, 2022, at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA, where her funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Beechwood Cemetery, Bensalem, PA.
