Born and raised in Hulmeville, Wayne was a 1947 graduate of Langhorne-Middletown High School (Neshaminy). Throughout high school he participated in football, basketball and baseball and was inducted into the Neshaminy Football Hall of Fame, the Neshaminy All-Sports Hall of Fame and the Bucks County Chapter of the PA All Sports Hall of Fame. He continued his athletic prowess at West Chester University as a member of the football and baseball teams. He was also inducted into the West Chester Hall of Fame.
He graduated from WCU in 1951 with Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education. Through the years he also earned his Master's and Doctorate Degrees in Education. After graduation, he began a marriage to Marie B. "Rie" Schneider (nee Brunner) that lasted for 54 years. They spent the next 25 years in the US Air Force as a pilot, retiring at the rank of Major. After the Air Force, Wayne embarked on a second career as a Special Education Teacher at Pennsbury High School, retiring in 1998.
Wayne was an avid pilot who continued to fly private airplanes well into his retirement and enjoyed attending various air shows. He also enjoyed following professional and collegiate football and baseball as well as auto racing. He spent his later retirement years enjoying the warmth of Florida in the winter and Avalon, NJ during the summer.
Wayne was predeceased by his loving wife Marie, his brother Bill Schneider and sister Jean Luz. He is survived by his sons, Jeff (Judy) Schneider (Woodbridge, VA) and Craig (Sue) Schneider (Levittown, PA) along with 4 grandchildren – Gretchen, Rachel, Heidi and Hilary. He is also survived by his companion Ruth Beatrice, sisters Joan Turner (Florida) and Barbara (Paul) Atkinson (Florida) and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend his graveside service at 12:00 pm on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Beechwood Cemetery, Bensalem Blvd, Bensalem.
