Frank Arthur Eckert, age 81, of Levittown passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2010, at Chandler Hall in Newtown after a stay at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne. His death was due to heart failure. Frank, born in Huntington, NY, was a 1946 graduate of Huntington High School and a 1973 graduate of Bucks County Community College. Frank served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S> Army during the Korean War. He was a retired electronics engineer who had worked at several electronics firms in the Princeton, NJ area for over 50 years. He enjoyed reading, traveling, keeping up with the business news and the Stock Market, as well as working on his computer. He was a volunteer tax preparer who worked at area senior centers with the TCE Program (Tax Counseling for the Elderly). Frank was the loving husband of Barbara J. Eckert, to whom he had been married for almost 59 years. Frank was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Georgina Eckert of New York and his daughter Suzanne J. Murdico of Florida. In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his sons, Robert Eckert Sr. and his wife Sandra of Levittown and Rev. James Eckert of Croydon, his daughter, Darien Eckert Kowell and her husband Jeffry of Colorado, and his son-in-law Vincent Murdico Jr. of Florida. He is also survived by his grandchildren, USMC Capt. Robert Eckert Jr. and his wife Jamie of Washington DC, Amy Kowell of New York and Jason Kowell of Colorado, his great grandson Brian Plante Jr. of Levittown, his brothers Robert Eckert and his wife Phillippa of Florida and Richard Eckert and his wife Jean of California, as well as several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown where his funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bucks County Community College Library, 275 Swamp Rd., Newtown, PA 18940 or to a charity of the donors choice.
