Elizabeth R. Welch, of Levittown died on Friday, February 25, 2011 at Chandler Hall, surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Mrs. Welch moved to Levittown in the mid 1950's and settled in Falls Township where she has resided ever since. She was employed with Princeton Forrestal Research Center for several years and later worked for Optical Scanning for 15 years until retiring. Mrs. Welch was proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed celebrating St. Patrick's Day every year. She was also very patriotic and was proud to have been born on Flag Day and been given the name Elizabeth Ross. Mrs. Welch was the beloved wife of the late Leonard James Welch. She was the loving mother of two daughters who where devoted to her in life and throughout her recent illness, Eileen T. Bancroft and her husband Ronald, Sr. and Barbara A. Merryman and her husband Earl all of Yardley. She was a devoted grandmother of 6 and great grandmother of 14. She will be sadly missed by her sister Amy Martin of Panama City, Fl and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by interment in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.
