Son of the late Eunice Swope and James M. Swope. Beloved husband of Ji, adored father of Sydney and Sabrina. Brother of James Swope (the late Susan), Thomas Swope (Betsy), and William Swope. Ed also had many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
A Morrisville “hometown” boy, he worked for the United States Postal Service for over thirty years, retiring in 2018. After retirement, he worked at Makefield Highlands Golf course and TPC Jasna Polana.
In his lifetime, he played many sports: football, tennis, softball, baseball, volleyball, running, and he excelled in basketball at Morrisville High School. He continued his love of basketball, playing at Bucks County Community College and Trenton State College. After basketball, golf was his favorite pastime. A sports coach at Morrisville and Neshaminy High Schools, he also coached his daughters’ sports teams.
Ed was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and enjoyed all kinds of music, especially the Beatles. He loved Coca-Cola and red licorice. One of Ed’s favorite quotes: “life is a marathon not a sprint.”
Ed considered his daughters his greatest accomplishment and legacy. He was a proud “girl dad,” as well as a “Dancing Dad” for his daughters. Throughout his lifetime, Ed made numerous friends and truly valued those friendships. He was always one tobrighten your day and enrich any conversation. He considered himself an “average guy,” but his family and friends knew him to be extraordinary.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, his memorial will be private. For friends and family, a celebration of life will be in the future.
